Legislation - In Minnesota a health plan must cover hearing aids for individuals 18 years of age or younger for hearing loss due to functional congenital malformation of the ears that is not correctable by other covered procedures. Coverage required under this section is limited to one hearing aid in each ear every three years. No special deductible, coinsurance, co-payment, or other limitation on the coverage under this section that is not generally applicable to other coverage under the plan may be imposed.

 This unique national program provides assistance to individuals and families with limited financial resources. HEAR NOW maintains the National Hearing Aid Bank, which provides new and reconditioned hearing aids to deaf and hard of hearing people who cannot afford them. These hearing aids are distributed through hearing health care providers in comminutes nationwide. The Miracle-Ear Children's Foundation
 works in cooperation with local Miracle-Ear Centers nationwide to provide free hearing aids, services, and support materials to children age 16 and under whose families do not qualify for public assistance, yet cannot cover the expense of hearing aids.
